To most of the world, loosing weight is synonymous with following a ‘rigorous diet’ plan with lots of restrictions and sacrifices. Contrary to the popular belief, you need not follow any strict calorie control, neither do you need to stop carbohydrate or fat intake altogether. By following the advises mentioned below you will be able to lose weight at a lightening pace and enjoy the process, all at once. As I tell my patients, the next few steps are not diet plans, per se. This is behavior modification.
10 Steps for loosing weight in one week-
- Drink Lemon Water: Start your day by drinking one glass of plain lemon water in empty stomach. Drink at least two to three litres of water daily.
- Exercise: Do aerobic exercise (jogging, walking, running etc) at least for 20 minutes each day.
- Eat Fruits and Vegetables: Consume at least four to five types of fruits each day. Eat three to four different types of vegetables with cereals. Fruits which are rich in fibres (apples, bananas, oranges, mangoes) will keep you full for longer. Moreover fruits and vegetables will provide you with the essential vitamins that you will need.
- Dry Fruits: Add at least five different dry fruits (almond, apricot, cashew nut, raisin, dates, walnuts, pistachios) daily to provide essential minerals and vitamins in your diet.
- Avoid Processed Junk Food: Eat only homemade food . Avoid alcohol and snacking in between meals.
- Eat Consciously: Do not watch television or distract yourself while eating. Eat mindfully and only when you feel hungry.
- Brown Rice: Consume brown rice as it is a complex carbohydrate that is extremely nutritious but low in fat.
- Avoid White Sugar: If you feel like you are missing sugar, use honey, jaggery or any other natural substitute.
- Drink Green Tea: Consume green tea two to three times a day as it is full of anti-oxidants and induces fat loss.
- Sleep Well: Along with exercising and eating right, getting eight hours of quality sleep is essential for loosing weight according to the research published in ‘Annals of Internal Medicine’.
The best part of this plan is to get you in the habit of eating healthy food. Moreover, the cleansing effect of water, fruits and vegetables helps to release toxins from your body. To sustain the weight loss that will occur after one week, exercise is the best option along with the steps mentioned above. After seven days you will not only lose weight but will have improved immunity, better digestion and a glowing healthy skin.
